Here are the steps on how to become a neuropsychologist.

Pre-medicine degree

A bachelor’s degree is always necessary for any medicine related course. Get a course in psychology, biology and other related sciences for four years before taking a step to proceed to a doctoral degree. This is the first step upon entering your neuropsychology career.

Additionally, you might want to have the edge too by enhancing your knowledge in advance through mastering math and science subjects. Join early internships if possible to gain ideas and learning even as a college student.

Master’s degree

You can find work as a neuropsychologist if you have a master’s degree but with supervision of a doctoral neuropsychologist. To obtain your master’s, one has to enroll in advanced courses in neuropsychology.

One may have to complete a thesis or an internship prior to being a master’s graduate. This takes about two years to finish. There are a couple of good universities that offer a master’s degree in neuropsychology.

Doctoral degree

One has to go through the competitive track to being a neuropsychologist. If you want to advance yourself to bigger opportunities in your career, complete a doctorate degree. You can also have your own private practice if you have the certification of being a Ph.D.

It may take five years to finish and will require you to take courses that have extensive research and experimental methods. Postdoctoral experience

Some of the organizations would include the American Academy of Clinical Neuropsychology (AACN) and American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP).
