The pursuit of happiness in this life is a continuous process one has to go through. Constantly, the search for one’s contentment changes through the years. One’s dreams today may not be your happiness of tomorrow.
How one can see a happy life differs from another’s perspective. According to Harvard Business Review, studies have shown that states in the US that have higher happiness levels have a greater rate of suicides. An ironic reality that shows one’s environment can even affect how one perceives happiness.
Nonetheless, there is nothing more satisfying than living a happy life. This is what everyone is looking forward to at the end of the day, after a hard day’s work. This is what keeps people going. So how do you live a happy life?
Start with the most simple step. Giving yourself a value to this world increases your self-esteem. Seeing yourself in the mirror as a beautiful entity whose life is filled with love and care makes you feel grateful. When you love yourself you learn to value life and all its entirety.
Acceptance and optimism
Learn to open your mind and heart that life would always have its differences. Reality is, life is really never a smooth road. You have to face it knowing that somewhere down the road, trials will come your way to test how strong you are to surpass it.
Give out a positive approach if problems come. Place in your heart the faith, not only in God but also in yourself that you can get through anything. Lighten up your aura with optimism and everything else will follow.
Go for your passion
Follow your dreams. Reach for what you really want in life and not for what others dictate you to be. You will find happiness on the things you really care about. Do not be afraid of failure because it will be a passage for you to be better. Do not quit too. Happiness is at the end of the tunnel, not in between. So go forth until you find what you are looking for.
It feels so good to tell the whole world who and what you are. Talk and dress the way you want. Never be ashamed to flaunt what you got. The freedom of expression brings out true happiness to a person. This gives you more confidence that you are one unique being and that you are entitled to be someone in this world.
Pass it forward
Try to do something good every day for someone. A simple “good morning” and “thank you” could brighten up someone’s day. You will feel good once you see you have made someone smile. The more you would be happy too when someone tells you, you have changed his life. Pass goodness forward even on the tiniest things because it would create a domino effect for people who might be unhappy.
Happiness is pretty easy to find in this world. You start it within yourself and flourish it by showing to people this fire of happiness inside you. As an end result, you attract people positively and slowly they begin to do the same way too.
