Every day we are forced to make different decisions from different situations. Each of them have the results and consequences that heavily affect our lives and from the decisions we have made. Poor decisions usually lead to consequences that bear heavy problems whereas good decisions are often rewarding. In life, we have gone through making bad decisions, thus, we end up falling flat on our face. But these bad decisions should be avoided next time through learning and experience. Here, we intend to try to avoid making bad decisions by knowing how to make good decisions.
This is the general rule before making a decision. Always think of the consequences of each option before making a final decision. Weigh down the pros and cons of choosing one option first then move on to the next choice. If the first choice proves to have more degrading consequences then you should try to avoid making a wrong choice. Rationalize with someone who seem to be unbiased and logical when it comes todecision making. It can be your parent or your dear friend who you can talk to any time.
Trust your gut. If it comes to making big decisions in life like getting a job elsewhere or moving out of your apartment, go with what your gut tells you. Your gut seldom fails you. It is called instinct and rarely does it put you in a situation that you cannot escape from. Have faith that you can make it out alive even if you fall flat on your face.
Think twice or thrice but don’t overdo it. Never try to over-analyze every angle or every perspective of the problem or the options you are presented with. Thinking twice allows a new perspective while thinking thrice forms doubt on both options. Thinking more than that is called a mess. Do not get nervous over the small things. Think of the bigger picture and what it can do for you in the long run.
There’s always a way
Always remember that in everything you do, there’s always a solution. So, whether you made a bad decision or not, a solution is always present to counter the effects of the problem. It is up to you to find out what the solution is. Keep in mind that if you ever make a wrong decision it is not the end of the world. There’s still tomorrow to fix things.
Ask for opinions not decisions
You can always ask for others’ opinions but take it with a grain of salt. It is good to ask for the opinion of others especially if they have gone through with the experience. But, their lives are different than yours. You have the choice to follow their advice or you can lead your own. In the end, it is your decision that is final.
There will be times that we are forced to make decisions in a hasty manner. Often times, these situations are the cause of poor decision making. Try to breathe first and think things through even just for a matter of minutes. Remember, decisions can never be taken back. In the end, you only reap what you sow.
