How to Stop Procrastinating

How to Stop Procrastinating PhotoProcrastination is the number one killer of productivity, and it is the one thing that people must stop in order to get more work done. It can be quite difficult as people tend to find several reasons to not do the work that they need to do.

However, with the right state of mind as well as these few tips, you can stop procrastination once and for all, and you can even start doing them right now.

Change your environment

If you work freelance and can work in the comfort of your home, you are probably working with your pajamas in front of the television or in front of the television. This is a big no no as you would be tempted to just lounge around and do nothing even when there are a lot of tasks to complete.

A good way to resolve this is to go somewhere where there can be little to no distractions. A coffee shop would do just fine, though do not be tempted to go online unless your job requires you to do so, as social browsing would also get to eat up much of your time. This way, you would be able to work even without being in the office, and there would be less distractions that will cause you to procrastinate.

Set schedules

Something like a timer or stopwatch can do wonders in helping you schedule the time between work and play. For every hour or two that you work, set aside about fifteen minutes to check on personal emails, chat with workmates, or even do some light stretching. This will keep your mind fresh and you would be more energized and ready to work for when the time comes that you would have to get back to work again.

Make a to do list

Write down everything that you need to do, no matter how minor, on a notebook or spreadsheet. You may even write down allotted times for each job. Not only will you be forced to go about all of these tasks, but you will also get a sense of accomplishment as you get to finally cross that last item out of your list within the provided time frame.

Just do it

No matter how difficult the task at hand is, it is important to just get down and dirty with it. No job will ever be finished if you just stare at it or ignore it. Time is of the essence, and if you want to find success in life, then right now is the time that you would have to start working on whatever it is that you have to do and stop procrastination from ruining your career and work schedule.
